Manchester United were able to quickly chase David Moyes out of Old Trafford last season, but the mice who have claimed the stadium as their home are apparently proving more difficult to shoo away. And no, I’m not talking about the Glazers.

According to the Daily Mail, Man United were one of only two Premier League clubs to receive a less than perfect score on their latest hygiene report (Burnley being the other), in part because of a mice infestation that has plagued the club for years.

From the Daily Mail:

‘They’re a nightmare and they struggle to get rid of them,’ a source said.

The issue is thought to be historical and linked to the famous stadium’s location by the canal.

In 2012 a similar report identified issues with mice in the staff canteen in the Stretford End while in 2010 a mouse was snapped scurrying over the hallowed turf during United’s victory over West Ham.

In 2006 after their FA Cup defeat of Burton Albion, players complained that there were mice all over the pitch.

Weekly checks are carried out by the club, but Anderson making crumbs everywhere isn’t helping.
