NFL players are wearing Cristiano Ronaldo’s boots
January 17, 2015
The Green Bay Packers beat the Dallas Cowboys 26–21 in the NFL playoffs last week and they did it with the help of Cristiano Ronaldo…’s footwear. Two members of the Packers’ defensive secondary, Tremon Williams and Sam Shields, wore Nike Mercurial Vapor X Superfly CR7s for the game.
World Soccer Shop explains why:
The cleat is well-suited for American football cornerbacks. The lightweight upper is designed for speed and the Flyknit with ankle collar provides a sock-like feel but with great support provided by the Flywire cable within the upper. Nike’s All Conditions Control (ACC) makes it ideal for any field conditions which can vary in the winter months of Green Bay.
Cristiano’s influence on the NFL hasn’t been without its problems, though. In October, the Chicago Bears Lamarr Houston mimicked Ronaldo’s goal celebration during a game and ended up tearing his ACL in the process.
Maybe if he had the right shoes on, that would’ve gone better for him.
