Football Manager has long blurred the lines between fiction and reality for thousands of addicts around the world, but now it’s confusing footballers’ girlfriends too.
Andros Townsend’s girlfriend Hazel O’Sullivan texted him on Friday to say that she saw on Twitter that he was fined for not showing up to training. He had no idea what she was talking about, so he asked to see what she saw. And she sent him a screencap from Football Manager. Naturally, he then shared all of this in a tweet to the game’s official account.
Hazel took the public ridicule that ensued rather well. Though she did hint at reprisals to come…
