Jose Mourinho stops counter-attack during FIFA legends match
May 12, 2016
A team of international FIFA legends led by Jose Mourinho faced a Mexican All-Star squad at the Estadio Azteca as part of the FIFA Congress festivities and in this friendly, Mourinho showed that he hasn’t gone soft during his time away from the game since getting sacked by Chelsea.
Mexico proved to be a formidable opponent for Mourinho’s side, so when he saw the makings of a dangerous counter-attack, he ran onto the pitch to stop it himself. This prompted former Santos Laguna striker Jared Borgetti to call for Mourinho to be sent off, but the ref decided to let chaos rule the day as FIFA president Gianni Infantino had a hearty laugh.
This is the first time Mourinho has interfered with a charity match, though. A couple years ago, he took down singer Olly Murs during a UNICEF game at Old Trafford.
