These are thoughts bouncing around your mind onboard a dodgy eastern European airline as it makes its way towards the 2018 World Cup. Another bout of turbulence. The plane sounds a plastic rattle. You grip the armrest. All this for a bloody game. It’s easy to feel cynical about football today, fatalistic even. Take your pick; exorbitant transfer fees, historic clubs mismanaged…
