Pep Guardiola was introduced to Man City fans for the first time on Sunday and it didn’t take long for one of them to shout at him about signing Lionel Messi.
Long before Guardiola was set to join City, there have been endless rumors about the club pursuing Messi (examples: August 2009, December 2013, May 2014, November 2015,) It’s like clockwork. No matter how impossible it may seem, the rumors keep getting published in order to harvest easy pageviews.
Well, Guardiola isn’t going to let it continue, as his response to the Messi question was “I’m sorry, Messi has to stay in Barcelona for the rest of his career.”
Sadly, this probably won’t stop a Messi to Man City rumor from being published and endlessly quoted within the week.
