Brek Shea stuns U.S. fans with pretty free kick in Swiss draw

In an attempt to move the U.S. past the deep, deep Bendtner shame they suffered last week, Brek Shea scored a beauty of a free kick at the end of the first half in their friendly against Switzerland. Shea only scored twice before for the U.S., both of which came in 2013. So for at least one U.S. fan who made the trip to Zurich, this occurrence was literally jaw dropping.

The U.S. would not go on to win, though. Jozy Altidore was sent off for cursing out the referee after a yellow-card challenge in the 68th minute. Switzerland’s Valentin Stocker went on to score in the 80th minute to earn a 1–1 draw against the 10-man side.
