A look at the USWNT’s final friendly before the World Cup

The U.S. Women’s National Team begins their World Cup tonight with a match against Australia in Winnipeg. We sent photographer Luke Malanga to capture their final tune-up match, a 0–0 draw with South Korea at Red Bull Arena just over a week ago. The sell-out crowd of more than 26,000 watched as Abby Wambach, Christen Press, Carli Lloyd, and co. put 15 shots on goal while Hope Solo and her defense kept a clean sheet — thanks to a massive save by Solo in injury time. One of our favorite photos of all has nothing to do with action on the field: Alex Morgan didn’t play in the match, but she was happy to take a selfie with a fan.
