Man United being shamed by their own sweatshirts

This season is the first under Man United’s record kit deal with Adidas. It’s also their worst in the Premier League era. Louis van Gaal’s tactics have sucked the joy out of the team’s play and goals scarce that one of the most popular chants at Old Trafford this season has been “We’re Man United, we want to attack!”

Joining in the criticism of the club’s style of play this season has been Adidas chief executive Herbert Hainer, who described it as “not exactly what we want to see” in January. Which makes the appearance of an Adidas hoodie in the official Man United shop that reads “DUTY TO ENTERTAIN” seem less like a coincidence and more like a tangible reminder that Adidas is not happy with the product in which they’ve invested a huge sum of money.

If Man United get eliminated from the Europa League, look for Adidas’ next official hoodie release to read “DUTY TO REFUND OUR F@&KING MONEY.”
