Down 1–0 to Venezuela, running out of time, and facing the prospect of playing Argentina in the quarterfinals, Mexico needed a goal to equalize and win group C of Copa America Centenario. So 23-year-old Tecatito Corona cut through the entirety of Venezuela’s defense to score the needed equalizer in the 80th minute.

It was the type of goal we usually see from Lionel Messi, which is fitting since it helped Mexico avoid facing Messi sooner than they have to. And if you think this was down to poor defending, just know that it was the first and only goal Venezuela have conceded in their three matches in this tournament.

It’s unclear whether Chicharito was more excited about this goal or meeting NFL player JJ Watt earlier. Actually, I take that back — he was definitely more excited about meeting JJ Watt.
