Diego Costa kept a coin thrown at him during the Capital One Cup final
March 1, 2015
Cementing his position as the king of all trolls, Chelsea striker Diego Costa picked up a coin thrown onto the pitch during the Capital One Cup final and stuffed it down his shorts.
Costa spent much of the game burrowing under the skin of his opponents — puffing out his chest and squaring up to anyone who dared to make contact with him, putting a hand in Nabil Bentaleb’s face, goading Eric Dier into a yellow card during the first half. And then he took the shot that Kyle Walker deflected into his own net, giving Chelsea a 2–0 lead before the hour mark that they would hold until the end.
Given all that, it’s not entirely surprising (disappointing, but not surprising) that someone in the stands decided to heave a coin his way during the match. And like the professional aggravator that he is, Costa picked it up, gave it a flip and jammed it into the waistband of his shorts.
Just another day at the office for Diego Costa.
