Juventus held on for a scoreless draw in the second leg of their Champions League quarterfinal against Monaco to advance on a 1–0 aggregate, but amidst the celebrations is deep concern. Early in the match, defender Giorgio Chiellini displayed his first symptom of Suarezitis, which he contracted when Luis Suarez bit him at last summer’s World Cup.

After slipping while chasing down the ball, Chiellini desperately reached out to keep it away from a charging Joao Moutinho with his hand.

Chiellini was shown a yellow card for the move, which was somewhat reminiscent of Suarez’s own strategic handball on the goal line against Ghana in the 2010 World Cup.

Chiellini is the first of Suarez’s three bite victims to display symptoms of Suarezitis, raising concerns of future diving, racial abuse, and perhaps even opponent biting of his own. Though previous victims Otman Bakkal and Branislav Ivanovic have been asymptomatic thus far, scientists believe they could still carry Suarezitis and potentially pass it on to others.

There is no known cure for Suarezitis and attempts to treat it with lengthy bans from football have proven unsuccessful.
