Injuries are a common occurrence in football, but some are more embarrassing than others. When those embarrassing injuries happen, the player involved would likely prefer if their club didn’t call attention to the details of how they got hurt, but Bayer Leverkusen doesn’t care about that.
From their official website:
Chicharito broke his right hand falling down the stairs in his flat last night. The Mexican underwent a successful operation performed by professor Bertil Bouillon, senior consultant for emergency surgery at Merheim Clinic. As with Bender, Chicharito will not play at Mönchengladbach with the two players likely to be sidelined for at least two weeks.
They couldn’t just say that he had “an accident at home” or something vague like that? They had to explicitly say that he fell down the stairs? This only raises more questions, like: His apartment has stairs? Did he fall on his own or was he pushed, perhaps by an evil doll? And, knowing Chicharito, did he score a goal while falling?
The lesson here is that if you play for Leverkusen and you injure yourself at home, don’t tell them how you did it. They will publish those embarrassing details on their official website for all to see.
