With the divine intervention of Jeb Brovsky’s midsection, Orlando City captain Kaka was credited with his first MLS goal in added time to give his side a 1–1 draw with fellow newcomers New York City FC. Mix Diskerud opened the scoring for the visitors, curling in a shot from the edge of the box in the 76th minute off a pass from David Villa.

With the home side reduced to 10 men, it seemed the 62,510 in attendance were going to leave disappointed. But Kaka salvaged the day, knocking a free kick off of Brovsky that would trickle into the empty side of the net as NYCFC goalkeeper Josh Saunders watched from his knees.
