Referee accidentally blasts Mexico players with disappearing spray

July 27, 2015

The referee in the Gold Cup final accidentally started Mexico’s title celebration a little early when he shot disappearing spray at them (surprisingly, this did not make them disappear).

This happened in the first half, after Mexico weathered an early surge from Jamaica and scored their first goal in a 3–1 win to claim their record 10th Gold Cup.

Jesus Corona won the Bright Future award as the tournament’s best young player and Andres Guardado was a deserving Golden Ball winner. The U.S.’s Brad Guzan and Clint Dempsey won the Golden Glove and Golden Boot, respectively.

Mexico and the U.S. (the 2013 Gold Cup winners) will now played a one-off match on October 9 at the Rose Bowl to decide which country represents CONCACAF in the 2017 Confederations Cup in Russia.
