Once the happy pooches were cleared from the pitch during the Copa Libertadores match between Deportivo Tachira and Pumas, things got nasty. After attempting to clear a high ball, Tachira defender Yuber Mosquera planted his boot in Pumas midfielder Alejandro Castro’s chest.

Despite Castro showing off the sizable wound caused by Mosquera’s kick, the offending player remained on the pitch with a yellow card.

Castro did make Mosquera pay for the assault, however, by kicking him in the crotch as he got kicked in the chest. So the ref might have decided that they were even.

Mosquera went on to score the match’s only goal in the 50th minute.

This has been the Dirty Tackle of the Day: a chronicling of unfortunate events.
